As Creative Producer my role was to find the caravans, the communities, the stories and prepare the ground for a tour of five shack communities as part of Ten Days on the Island for 2009. This included matching prominent visual artists including Gary Shed, Euan McLeod and Kit Hiller to Tomohawk, Trial Harbour and Southport. Spending time with the community within their little caravans, these artists created new work inspired by their environment. Radio Holiday was a logistical challenge as we were simultaneously working in five remote communities. The outcome was extremely successful and rewarding and goes down as one of my favourite projects. It was an example of the successful Big hART model in action when there's a strong, experienced team and the time to build genuine relationships with community members.

Radio Holiday - Ten Days on the Island
Radio Holiday was a two year initiative with Big hART that culminated in a statewide tour of five retro caravans to five remote shack communities; Crayfish Creek, Couta Rocks, Trial Harbour, Tomohawk and Southport. We staged a show at each of these locations with high profile actors including Glynn Nicholas and Kerry Armstrong, local performers, artists and members of the remote communities. It was a massive and magnificent project that I was very proud to have managed. It was presented as part of Ten Days on the Island and then travelled to Federation Square as part of Melbourne’s International Arts Festival.
